Didn't know Chuck Klosterman was writing for ESPN. But he is.

Losing isn't everything. Losing is the only thing.

As I'm prone to do, I left my book at home today. (Absent Friends, by S.J. Rozan).

So, the question is, what to read instead?

a. The NYTimes Book Review
b. The Idiot's Guide to Better Skin
c. Modern Database Management

Let's pretend those are the only choices.

No running lately. I don't have the shoes for the snow and I've got a cold. Gotta do something, though, other than walk the dog. I feel like a slacker.

Christmas is coming, which means I have to get to the p.o. and get stuff in the mail, which means I have to shop because I don't have enough stuff to put in the mail. Sigh. Round and round we go.

Oh, my goodness. After a month of trying (and giving up, mostly) I finally got phpmyadmin to work today! I feel like a 10 year old kid at Christmas (at least that's what my coworkers said when they saw me dancing around).

Now that I got it working I have to:
a) figure out how to use it and
b) figure out something to do with it

All in my spare time! Ah, well. . .the pursuit is often more exciting than the capture, as they say.

I'm allegedly learning php and MYSQL stuff today. . .of course I'm more than a little lost. Better than trying to soak it up out of a book, though.

Late night tonight and I still feel like crap. Took the p.m. off yesterday and slept for about 2 hours. Can't remember the last time I did that. Probably when I still had my apartment and I'd take a Wednesday afternoon snooze. Ahh, the good old days! (not)

Slogging through our 349 new Barnes and Noble paperbacks, give or take. Not much of literary value, unfortunately, but I just bought a few end-of-the-year "best of" novels from another vendor to supplement our meager collection. Picked up V's ring last night, wrapped in beautiful golden paper so even I can't look at it til Christmas. I thought the saleslady was going to keep it herself she was so enamored. Otherwise, I feel like shit and will probably go home early if I can get away with it.

Had a good run yesterday, almost 1/2 hour. Trouble is, I have no idea how far I'm going, cuz it's off the beaten path a little. Anyway, it felt good after having not run in a week or so. Bad weather and just been busy, which is a terrible excuse.

Just reading a Men's Health article on breakups. There's some good stuff in there. I like this line (under the section "Stop being friends")

Your friendship has been taken off the menu of great things in life that she gets to enjoy.

Great line!!!!
